Six Degrees of Separation

  1. Real and imagined landscape inform my work, a starting point enabling me to create pieces of work which attempt to evoke pictorially a number of issues in everyday life that interest me. Maps and journeys play an important part as I have been working on my own ‘emotional maps’, this enables me to take an introspective journey like going down a metaphorical corridor, one thought after another collecting fragments of information. Drawing has always been essential to my practice as a painter. I combine paint with different materials, gradual building and manipulating a once flat surface.
